Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of financial services with offices on a national basis are currently recruiting for a Paraplanner and Senior Paraplanner for their offices in Crewe.
Our client has national coverage through telephony advice and are building an increasing face-to-face presence by bringing together some of the very best financial planning firms in the UK.

Role Overview

With a broad portfolio of duties, you will be passionate about helping clients, a good communicator, reliable, organised and able to follow through on a range of activities in a timely manner. You will be a senior member of the team and you should therefore have in depth experience as a Paraplanner within an established financial planning practice. Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Paraplanner role will involve working with other paraplanners within the team to provide bespoke support to the company’s Financial Planners. It will compile of a mix of technical knowledge, analytical and report writing duties including (but not exclusively) the following:

Main duties

As a Paraplanner you will be required to analyse a client’s circumstances, goals and objectives and existing financial planning arrangements in order to prepare an appropriate recommendation for discussion with the Financial Planner

  • Undertake market research, as required, on all areas of the market including pensions, investments and protection and complete the relevant research documentation in an efficient manner
  • Utilise relevant technological tools in research
  • Prepare Suitability Reports, ensuring they are compliant and adhere to company guidelines
  • Provide high quality technical, administrative and research support to Financial Planners
  • Identify and obtain the information necessary to compile a financial cash flow forecast
  • Manage Intelliflo tasks to ensure all allocated existing business work is being followed up regularly.
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships to help maintain business flow and meet agreed targets
  • Provide regular, clear and informative updates to Financial Planners
  • Liaise with the client’s legal and tax advisers (if necessary)
  • Establish and build a strong relationship with clients and attend client meetings with the Financial Planner if required
  • Review client’s investments, asset allocation, risk profile, etc. on an ongoing basis alongside the Financial Planner and in line with the client’s objectives
  • FCA obligations – operate within our designated compliance procedures and the relevant FCA rules
  • Fully utilise back-office system to ensure client records are up to date and accurate
  • Provide input to the Paraplanning Manager on the suitability of systems or procedures
  • Participate in all team communications (meetings, emails etc.) to ensure a proactive and informative contribution is made
  • Make a positive contribution to support the team, working collectively and consistently through regular communication and sharing information
  • Maintain Continuous Personal Development (CPD) by attending in-house training and keeping abreast of industry developments, whilst retaining supporting documents for review
  • Involvement with project work as and when required
  • Assist in the development of less experienced members of the team
  • Supervise the training of new trainee paraplanners and assist with their training plans
  • From time to time, be required to undertake reasonable additional or other duties as are necessary to meet the demands of the business

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience of working within an IFA / Financial Services environment with a good knowledge of investment planning, retirement planning, pension transfers, financial protection, personal tax and trust planning and long-term care planning
  • Hold the Level 4 Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning qualification (or equivalent)
  • Ideally hold or be studying towards completion of Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning qualification
  • IT literate with Microsoft (primarily Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Experience of working with Intelliflo
  • Knowledge of research tools & software (e.g. FE Analytics, Voyant Cashflow)
